1965 Buick Riviera

1964 Riviera

This car had a little over 30,000 miles when Richard bought in 1976 from the original owner after moving to Austin from Amarillo. The car was all original - original paint and interior and in mint condition throughout. We rarely drove it fearing it would get damaged and we wanted to limit the miles on the car. Always loved the hideaway headlights. Richard sold the car during the late 80s when it had slightly over 32,000 miles on it. He sold it to country/rock artist Junior Brown who was gifting it to his wife. Watch this YouTube video that includes his driving the Riviera - https://youtu.be/HZUoHsrM45M?si=2Sx-TxzZInW2uM0l

Junior Brown later traded it for partial payment to a landscaper. That's a car we would like to have back. The car still smelled new inside when we sold it. Later on we realized that low miles or not and trailer queens or not the cars are made to be driven and seen and enjoyed.

Riviera - Series 49447 - The last recycle of the original Riviera body was also the most distinctive. Headlamps were now stacked vertically behind the fender grilles, which opened when the lamps were turned on. Taillamps were housed in the bumper bar, giving a cleaner rear deck appearance. Riviera script appeared on the front fenders and deck lid. Standard Riviera features included: Super Turbine transmission; power steering; power brakes; two-speed electric wipers with washer; back-up lights; glare-proof rear view mirror; parking brake signal light; Safety buzzer; map light; electric clock; tilt steering wheel; automatic trunk light; license plate frames; upper and lower instrument panel safety pads; full carpeting; double door release handles; console-mounted gear selector; Walnut paneling on instrument panel and individual front bucket seats. Optional Custom interiors included carpeted lower doors. (from Standard Catalog of American Cars: 1946-1975)
