UPDATE: Car has been sold and shipped to Michigan to its new home. The charming couple who bought the car plan to drive it to the annual Woodward Avenue Cruise this August, 2019. If you are on the cruise this summer be sure to wave if you see the car. I know they will love and care for the car the same way we have.
Nice example of the last year of the big Cadillac. This car was originally shipped to Courtesy Cadillac in Louisville, Kentucky. The car was sold new to Ruth Hatcher in Dallas, Texas January 29, 1998 and had 439 miles at the date of delivery. She was the first registered owner of the car. It was was sold by Glen Hatcher of Wimberley, Texas to J.A. Wayne in May of 2011. Mr. Wayne put the car in his warehouse and didn't drive it. We bought the car from Mr. Wayne in March of 2018. All the original literature (owner's manual, maintenance book, warranty book and ownership brochure) are with the car in the original black binder. Have the original window sticker.
In 1993 the Fleetwood was switched from the DeVille's front wheel drive C-body to the revised rear wheel drive D-body. It was one of the first American front wheel drive vehicles to be returned to rear-wheel drive. At 225 inches overall, the Fleetwood was the longest production car made in the U.S. All Fleetwoods (except for commercial chassis) had standard antilock brakes, traction control and dual front airbags. After 1996, the Cadillac Fleetwood was retired by General Motors along with all other rear-wheel drive sedans. From 1994 - 1996 Cadillac used the Corvette-derived LT1 (350 cubic inch 5.7 liter/260 h.p.) engine along with the 4L60E automatic transmission.
The Brougham option included a full vinyl top, C-pillar badging, special seat design with six-way driver's seat memory and heated and three-position lumbar front seats, instrument panel badging and rear seat storage armrest. Total production for 1996 FW Brougham was 15,109.
When we bought the car we changed the oil and filter; installed a set of new Michelin tires and had a 4-wheel alignment done; replaced the coolant hoses, water pump, coolant, thermostat and flushed the radiator; replaced the power steering hoses and pump; replaced the fuel pump and sending unit; serviced the transmission filter, gasket and fluid; had the windows tinted; installed a new coolant recovery tank; repadded the driver's seat; replaced the antenna mast; installed new Bilstein front shocks; replaced the inner fender splash shields; serviced the brakes and installed a new brake master cylinder; installed new a/c compressor, accumulator, refrigerant; installed new alternator; and installed a new belt tensioner. Car is serviced and ready to go.
This is a very nice driving car. Wonderful highway car with great performance.
