1965 Buick Wildcat GS

Serial #464375X121925

White, black interior
Bucket seats, interior console

We purchased this car in May, 1987 and later sold it at a Von Reece Auction in February, 1988.

We detailed the engine and cleaned the interior (interior needed nothing). Richard also had a friend from Amarillo who came down and helped work on the paint. Car had no damage on it when we bought it - the paint was just in bad shape.

Richard's friend taught me how to strip and prep the body properly for priming and painting. He showed me how to sand the car between metal and primer and between primer and paint. He taught me tricks for avoiding the problem of sanding through on edges and how to use a cardboard roller with sandpaper to gently sand the curves. He did the priming and painting but I was there through the process - learning as much as possible. I learned that achieving a perfect paint job required lots of labor intensive work to do it right. Spent many hours sanding using all the techniques he had taught me. When the paint was ready he showed how to water sand using fine sandpaper before the final buffing. We received a lot of compliments on the paint job. Another car we wished we had not sold. She was a beauty.
