1972 Chevrolet 8' Fleetside Pickup, 2WD

This was a low mileage truck that we would have had around the mid-1990s. It was an all original truck in excellent condition. No paintwork had ever been done on it. When we got it there was an all aluminum bed topper on it. It was an eyesore of a topper so we removed it. Sold it for scrap aluminum and were surprised to get $40 for it. To protect the clean bed we installed a bedliner.

Don't recall the buyer's name but he was a dentist in Austin. This was definitely an eye-catching truck.

One of the things we didn't like was what we considered a design flaw by Chevrolet. The fuel tank was located directly behind the bench seat. This could be dangerous in a collision if the tank burst as the occupants could get soaked in fuel. I also hated that when the tank got lower on fuel you could hear it sloshing in the tank.
